to me, cool is laid back. smooth. or interesting, funny, people that aren't dullards that only talk about TV, and video games. they gotta have personality. that's my definition of 'cool'.

and normal, unfortunately, is the dullards and everyting. the TV children as i call them. lame-o's.

"Now Marge, this is the device that's going to be raising our children for the next 15 years"
-Homer Simpson, The Simpsons.

Well thats basically true, welcome to the Twenty-First century. And I myself don't ever watch tv before. First time I've watched it in a year was the superbowl for the commercials. That aside, though, I do more than enough gaming to make up for it...then again I do read too...I guess I'm the lesser of the goods and evils.

Hmm, do a lot of camping myself. And writing and movies (mostly old ones though) and other stuff. Oh, I highly reccomend the movie "Glory". It's about the first black regiment in the Civil War (the 54th) And it's based on the letters that Robert Shaw (the corporal of it) wrote to his family back in Boston. It's an incredible movie, we've been watching it in history and just finished it today. Worth buyin it really.

Well I saw part of it in seventh grade (four years ago) but never finished it. And we just watched the dramatic/action scenes, and it wasn't really tied together. Still, damn good movie. Now I just need to watch Amistad. (sadly, for a history requirement as a part of the reason, not just wanting to watch it)

It was delicious.

I don't like gladiator as a serious acting film, it was a bunch of guys beating the crap out of each other. Fun, agreed, not the best movie, and NOT best actor award material.

And you should read all three books, LOADS of stuff in em that the movies left out...only its mainly imagination based, so it could be less than the movie had.

y'know, Led Zepplin made an entire album with references to LOTR.

including...

"Ramble On"
"Over The Hills and Far Away"
"Misty Mountain Bop"
"Battle of Evermore"
"Stairway to Heaven"

there you go.

just it's style of writing, really...

*there's a feeling I get
when i look to the west
and my spirit is flying to heaven*

if i recall correctly, the Elves in LOTR came from the west, and they go home in the end of the movies (and series, according to a pal o mine).
